CITIZEN CHARTER - J&K Women’s Development Corporation

Jammu & Kashmir Women`s Development Corporation was incorporated in the year 1991 under the Companies Act 1956 but started functioning w.e.f. 1994. Corporation came into existence with an objective of implementing schemes aimed at socio-economic upliftment of women in general with particular emphasis on those living below poverty line and belonging to identified national level minorities, backward classes, physically challenged women and qualified women entrepreneurs.

OBJECTIVES

The above objectives are fulfilled with the help of following centrally sponsored schemes which are operational at present with the Women’s Development Corporation.

NATIONAL MINORITIES DEVELOPMENT & FINANCE CORPORATION (NMDFC)

Women belonging to Minority Community viz. Muslims, Buddhists, Sikhs, Christians, Parsis & Jains are being financed under this scheme at a nominal rate of interest 3% to 6% p.a simple to be liquidated within a period of 5 years. Maximum loan amount for an individual beneficiary under Term Loan scheme is Rs. 10.00 lakh and under Educational Loan scheme is Rs.20.00 lakhs in India & Rs.30.00 lakhs in Abroad.

NATIONAL BACKWARD CLASSES FINANCE & DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (NBCFDC)

The schemes is meant for the development of women belonging to backward classes as notified by Central/J&K Governments from time to time are being financed under this scheme at a very low rate of interest 5% p.a up to Rs.2,00,000/- & 6% p.a up to Rs.5.00 lakhs for which the repayment period is 5 years.

NATIONAL HANDICAPPED FINANCE & DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (NHFDC)

The target groups under this scheme are differently abled women with 40% disability irrespective of caste, creed, religion and income. This scheme at a very low rate of interest 4% up to Rs. 50,000/- , 5% p.a upto Rs. 1.00 lakh & 6% upto Rs.5.00 lakhs which is to be liquidated within a period of 6 1/2 years.

Educational Loan: Education loan is also provided to the women beneficiaries under each of the above mentioned schemes for professional/ technical courses.

Micro Credit loan: Micro Credit facilities are also provided to Self Help Groups (SHGs) at the rate of 5% for which repayment period is 3 years.

Women Entrepreneurship Programme (WEP)

In addition to the above mentioned centrally sponsored schemes the Corporation is also implementing “Women Entrepreneurship Programme (WEP)” Under this scheme, loan is available for skilled/qualified young women irrespective of cast, creed, religion and income.
