JKWDC was incorporated in the year 1991 as Chanellising Agency and started functioning w.e.f. 1994.

The Corporation is implementing a number of Developmental Schemes of as well as Central Government for Socio-Economic Upliftment of Women with a special focus on the families living Below Poverty Line (BPL) & Women belonging to Minorities, Backward & Other Classes.
